Negros Navigation, Inc. is considered among the oldest local shipping companies in the Philippines. It is among the biggest companies in the countrys passenger transport sector. Its principal headquarters is in Pier 2 at the Manila North Harbor. Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 26, 1932, the company was principally organized to ferry both cargo and passengers to different ports in the country.

The 1960s saw Negros Navigation becoming one of the pioneer shipping companies to operate brand new, fast, and luxury air conditioned passenger vessels. The 70s saw it becoming the pioneer in constructing and operating a state-of-the-art passenger terminal in North Harbor and was also the first to offer special trips to tourist spots in the country. In the 1980s, it pioneered in the container vessel program and introduced a new trend in the industry which is the Roll-on-Roll-off vessels. The company likewise has buses located in Baclaran, Cubao, and Alabang enroute to the terminal.

In the 1990s, Negros Navigation established itself as the pioneer shipping company listed in the stock exchange. The proceeds worth P916.86 million generated from the Initial Public Offering was used for its Globalization Program involving expansion of the fleet and modernization of service.

The shipping company won the Healthy Port Award given by the Department of Health through Undersecretary Margarita Galon and David Lozada, Director for NCR during the awarding rites of the DOH Search for Outstanding Places at the Atrium Hotel, Pasay City. In 2003-2004, it was adjudged as the Most Outstanding Healthiest Port in NCR during the Philippine Health Promotion Program. Its nomination had no objection because of its excellent security and sanitation measures which is currently in effect on all its ports.

Negros Navigation instituted major changes in its main hub in North Harbors Pier 2. Bearing in mind the safety, comfort, and convenience of passengers, a new 600 square meter passenger transit lounge was constructed.
