Shopping in General Santos

Shopping options in General Santos City are ever growing. New malls and shopping centers are being constructed over a period several years. Of course, this is expected of a city that is ever growing. Some of the malls and shopping areas have been around for some years and will be met by new stores in the years to come. Here are some of the current shopping destinations in the city.

The KCC Mall located in J. Catolico Avenue in Lagao in General Santos is a major shopping center in the region. It is fully air conditioned, which is the big reason why a lot of people stroll around - to get out of the city's humid weather. You'll find a lot of shopping options when you're looking for clothes. You're sure to find local and imported goods sold here at affordable prices. It also houses a supermarket where you can get your groceries.

Another mall that has operated for several years in General Santos City, other than the KCC Mall, is the Gaisano Mall. In fact, these two malls are on the same street in the town of Lagao. The Gaisano Mall is also another great shopping option due to its amenities and number of shops. The only negative comment you'll usually hear is that the bathrooms are kind of hard to find, so you better ask for directions from the mall's staff. The Gaisano Mall has a bit more to offer since it houses banks, wireless centers, and bookstores.

Fitmart is also another shopping option, which you'll find on the corner of Pendatun Avenue and CM. Recto. This is more of a grocery and supermarket than a mall. The bakery here is quite popular serving different kinds of pastries fresh and hot. Their pandesal is quite popular, which is usually the first thing to run out during the day. You can also stop by just to get some souvenirs here though there aren't as much options as there are in malls and in other locations.

Incidentally, Fitmart is located in the RD Plaza, which is also another shopping option in General Santos City. The place is lined with boutiques, gift shops, hardware equipment stores, fast food stores, and Internet cafes. The plaza is also situated near places of interest like banks, salons, schools, and hotels. If you're in a hurry to get supplies real quick then the RD Plaza is a good place to go.

Those who are looking for stuff at bargain prices can always go to the ever-reliable General Santos Public Market. Some may not consider this place as an ideal shopping option. However, if you consider the fact that you can find almost everything you may ever need makes it quite considerable. Another fact that makes this place more appealing is that you can haggle for prices. The commodities here are quite cheaper than the ones you'd find in malls, however, you may bring prices even lower if you know how to negotiate prices.

There are a lot of souvenir items you might like to consider while going through the different shopping locations in General Santos City. You'll find a lot of handicraft from woodcarvings to handmade paper boxes. You'll find a lot of gift cards and cardholders, trinkets that can be used as giveaways, fans, and gift bags. Each item you'll find has been crafted by local skilled artisans. You can even ask for custom-made items if you wish. If you fancy a certain handicraft but would love to make a few modifications, you may order it and ask for changes to be made.

These are only some of the shopping options available in General Santos City. Since the city is fast growing, you should expect to see more shopping centers and malls rising in key locations in the metropolitan area.
